About A Few Days Off with Deryk
Travel the world—one honest story at a time.
I’m Deryk—a retired police officer living with PTSD—sharing real travel stories, practical tips, and video diaries from the road. This site is about exploring the world while making space for healing, resilience, and curiosity.

Why I’m sharing this journey
A few days off became a new way forward.
After twenty four years of service, I needed a reset—something that felt real, grounding, and human. Travel gave me a way to slow down, reconnect with myself, and learn how to live with PTSD instead of fighting it every day.
Here you’ll find honest storytelling, mindful travel moments, and practical advice for planning trips—especially if you’re navigating anxiety, stress, or big life transitions.

The heart of the project
This is travel content for people who want something real.
I’m not here to pretend every day is perfect. Some days are breathtaking. Some are heavy. Most are a mix—and that’s the point.
As a retired police officer, I know what it’s like to carry things you can’t always explain. On the road, I’m learning how to live with PTSD with more compassion and less pressure. If you’ve ever felt like you needed a fresh start—or just a few days off to breathe—you’re in the right place.
I travel to see the world, but I also travel to come back to myself—one small, honest step at a time.
